Our 3M™ Traction Tape 5401 provides a high coefficient of friction on web rollers. This creates constant traction and tension for web material from start-up through wind-up, while simultaneously providing a non-stick, premium release surface that also won't interfere with printing, converting or other web processes.
Single coated glass cloth with fiberglass reinforcing resists burning and withstands up to 300ºF without damage, providing a durable, yet pliable structure ideal for high-temperature machinery
Adhesive removes cleanly and easily, leaving behind minimal residue and ensuring a quick clean-up process
Durable, conformable backing provides a smooth wrapping surface that can be applied in a spiral wrap or other formations for customizable applications
Silicone adhesive provides long aging, good holding power, for a wide range of operations
Non-stick material allows rollers to be used for multiple applications, eliminating down-time during manufacturing processes
3M™ Traction Tape 5401 features a glass cloth backing with pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive. 3M glass cloth tapes combine high temperature resistance, high adhesion, and a very strong, abrasion resistant backing. The glass cloth backing is reinforced with fiberglass and resists shrinking, rotting, or burning – providing exceptional stability in production environments up to 300ºF. The backing is also conformable and enables a smooth application when wrapped or used in spiral formations.
Our 5401 tape is applied by hand and primarily used to provide traction to material passing over rollers and drive rollers common in printing, Flexo Printing, converting and web processes, while also providing a non-stick surface for adhesives using the same rollers - reducing time wasted changing or cleaning rollers. The long-lasting, silicone adhesive adheres well to most surfaces and removes cleanly with minimal clean-up.
