3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Engineered Grade Instant Adhesives Family
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Instant Adhesive CA40H is a clear, high strength cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is a higher viscosity, slightly slower setting version of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ CA40. It has particularly good adhesion to many difficult to bond substrates, such as aluminum, EPDM rubber and flexible vinyl.
  • High viscosity and slower setting enables more controlled and precise application with less mess and run off
  • Better void filling capabilities than lower viscosity instant adhesives
  • Very fast setting, cures at room temperature and reaches handling strength in a matter of seconds
  • Excellent bonding to EPDM and most rubbers and plastics
  • Economical to use as it requires only drops of adhesive to provide strong bonds to many metals, plastics and rubbers

Overview

Instant Results with More Control
Our 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Instant Adhesive CA40H is a cyanoacrylate, high viscosity, instant adhesive. Its high viscosity helps prevent run off during application, and its slower set time (5 to 40 seconds) allows additional time for proper alignment of parts. Once bonded, the adhesive will fully cure in just 24 hours. It can withstand a wide variety of temperatures ranging from- 65°F/-54°C to 212°F/100°C. 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Instant Adhesive CA40H exhibits good resistance to soap solutions and isopropyl alcohol. This adhesive will bond to an extremely wide selection of materials and is useful in applications in most industries.

Recommended Applications

  • Aluminum
  • EPDM rubber
  • Flexible vinyl
  • Most cured rubbers
  • Most plastics
  • General bonding applications

What are Cyanoacrylate Adhesives?
Cyanoacrylate adhesives (instant adhesives) are single component, lower viscosity liquids that cure extremely quickly with just contact pressure and surface moisture. They adhere well, with thin bond lines, to plastics, metals and rubbers. With the use of primers, they can also adhere to low surface energy plastics and elastomers. They have lower flexibility, peel strength and impact resistance compared to other structural adhesives. They are generally used for gasket bonding and smaller assemblies.
