Overview

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Instant Adhesive CA100 is a high-strength cyanoacrylate adhesive. Its relatively high viscosity (approximately 3000 cps) provides a gap-filling capability up to .020 inches. Additionally, it has high T-Peel strength, thermal shock resistance, impact resistance, and excellent metal bonding capabilities.

Recommended Applications

  • Gap filling
  • Industrial
  • Metal bonding
  • Instant bonding

Easy Application
The clear liquid is easily and precisely applied from the bottle – no additional tools necessary. After application, the set time is quick, achieving handling strength on most materials in less than 1 minute. After parts are properly aligned, the full cure is achieved in 24 hours, at 72°F (22°C).

What are Instant Adhesives?
Instant adhesives are Cyanoacrylate based formulas that are strong, fast-acting adhesives used in industrial, and household applications. In general, they are an acrylic resin that rapidly polymerizes in the presence of water (specifically hydroxide ions), forming long, strong chains, joining the bonded surfaces together. Cyanoacrylates typically have a short shelf life and. As a liquid, cyanoacrylate consists of monomers of cyanoacrylate molecules. Depending on the intended application or to facilitate easy handling, a cyanoacrylate adhesive may be formulated with an ingredient such as fumed silica to make it more viscous or gel-like. The presence of moisture causes the glue to set, meaning exposure to normal levels of humidity in the air causes a thin skin to form within seconds, which greatly slows the reactive curing process. Because of this, cyanoacrylate should be applied thinly to ensure that the reaction proceeds rapidly and a strong bond is formed within a reasonable time. Our instant adhesives apply right from the container and rapidly reach handling strength at room temperature. A single drop per square inch can bond many plastics, rubber, metal and more.

Superior Aesthetic Quality
Unlike mechanical fastening methods, our instant adhesive doesn’t require drilling holes and the aesthetically superior look eliminates the need for unsightly bolts, screws, rivets and fasteners. This impact resistant adhesive has a 2,000 pound-force per square inch shear strength that makes it ideal for use in a number of industries, including: transportation, specialty vehicle, metalworking, construction, military and government, general industrial, MRO, electronics and consumer goods.
