Easy and Accurate Application
3M™ Hot Melt Spray Adhesive 6116 B is ideal for 1- or 2-surface assemblies such as fabrics to foam or plastic. Its off-white color makes it easy to tell apart from other hot melt spray adhesives. The spray adhesive shortens the time it takes to complete jobs. Because of its low misting properties, it gives the user a controlled method to apply adhesive with minimal overspray and virtually eliminates the need for masking. By simply adding heat, the user can create a strong adhesive that is easily, quickly and accurately applied to one or two surfaces. Once applied, the adhesive cools to form a long lasting bond.
What Are Hot Melt Adhesives?
Hot melts are 100% solids thermoplastic resins. These adhesives are engineered to re-melt after bonding when exposed to high enough temperatures. The main advantage of hot melt adhesives is that, unlike mechanical fasteners and sealing tapes, they are virtually invisible between surfaces.
Our hot melt adhesives liquefy when heated, quickly fill gaps and wet the bonding surface. Once applied, they cool, harden and reach their bond strength within seconds. Due to their quick work-life, you can move assemblies immediately upon application which eliminates the need for clamps, fixturing or additional drying time and energy.
The Science of Better Adhesives from 3M
Since 1925 when one of our lab assistants invented masking tape, 3M has been applying science to life –developing adhesive products and technologies that help entire industries and individual businesses worldwide. The work that began with a single 3M engineer now spans decades and generations. And all of it goes into each of our adhesives and sprayable hot melts such as the Hot Melt Spray Adhesive 6116 B – to improve performance, and to help businesses like yours operate faster, better and more efficiently.
