3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP125 Translucent is a low odor, two-part epoxy that creates strong structural and flexible bonds on metal, ceramics, wood and many plastics. It provides the reliability and strength you need to maintain productive, cost effective results. This general purpose epoxy can be used on a wide variety surfaces and meet an equal variety of needs.
Maintains a strong bond under expansion, contraction, and limited movement
Medium viscosity helps minimize running, dripping or migration
Flows smoothly for controlled dispensing where needed
Duo-Pak cartridge fits 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ EPX™ Plus II Applicator and Mixing Nozzles, sold separately
Effective adhesive system for bonding, joining, gluing, attaching, assembling, encapsulating, potting, and sealing applications
Our formula emits lower odor than most 5 minute epoxies and provides high shear and peel strength. DP125 Translucent starts with medium viscosity for easy, controlled dispensing where you need it, and minimizes any runs, drips or migration. Its flexibility when cured makes it ideal for applications involving dissimilar surfaces, where coefficients of thermal expansion are a consideration. The mix ratio is 1:1 and provides a 25 minute work life to allow plenty of time for positioning and to adjust for fit prior to setting. The adhesive reaches handling strength in approximately 2.5 hours and is fully cured in 7 days (at 720F/220C). For best results, always use 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ EPX™ Plus II Applicator and Mixing Nozzles, sold separately. Both mixing nozzle and applicator are required for dispensing from the Duo-Pak cartridge.
Epoxy adhesives are part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives," which also includes polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, and others. Epoxies begin as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical chain reaction when mixed, and then cure to form a solid plastic material. Once the two parts are mixed in their specified ratio, they begin the curing process and offer a limited working time where the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as need. This "work life" lasts anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours or longer. This class of structural adhesives provides high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula and better heat and chemical resistance than other common adhesives. Epoxies that are heat cured are more heat and chemical resistant than those that cure at room temperature. Epoxy adhesives are widely used in building and home construction, aircraft and automobile manufacture, bicycle, boat, golf clubs, ski, and snowboard assembly and a host of home use and other applications; virtually anywhere high-strength bonds are needed along with resistance to environmental conditions. These adhesives are popular for their ease of use, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Formulations can be created to make epoxies that are flexible or rigid, transparent or opaque, quick setting or slow setting. The versatility with which epoxy adhesives can be formulated helps meet almost any requirement for bonding wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics.
Industrial uses for epoxies range widely and include coatings, adhesives, and composite materials like carbon fiber and glass-reinforced plastic. They are the preferred choice for their ability to flow and conform to the work area, strong adhesion, chemical and heat resistance, and exceptional mechanical and electrical insulating properties.
