3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP105 Clear is a very flexible, two-part epoxy adhesive that gives you the strength you need, the clean look you desire and fast results you want to meet your deadlines. This very flexible product is effective for glass to metal bonding and sealing where expansion is a consideration.
Very flexible adhesive formula provides strong, permanent bond under movement
Provides high peel strength
Expands and contracts under changing environmental conditions
Dries clear and stays clear for nearly colorless bonding of jewelry and glass
Effective adhesive system for bonding, joining, gluing, attaching, assembling, encapsulating, potting, and sealing applications
The versatile formula provides good structural strength on a wide variety of substrates that include metals, ceramics, wood, and many plastics and offer you a useful, effective bonding solution. This clear drying, general purpose epoxy starts with low viscosity for easy, controlled dispensing that helps you achieve clean bond lines.
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP105 Clear provides 100% elongation when cured, making very effective for bonding dissimilar surfaces, where coefficients of thermal expansion is a consideration. Our remarkable formula maintains its clear, colorless quality, even when cured in larger quantity, where competing brands often turn amber from the exothermic reaction. The mix ratio is 1:1 for quick, precise dispensing and its 5 minute work life allows for repositioning and helps keep your projects on track. The adhesive reaches handling strength in approximately 20 minutes and is fully cured in 48 hours (at 720F/220C). For best results, always use 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ EPX™ Plus II Applicator and Mixing Nozzles, sold separately. Both mixing nozzle and applicator are required for dispensing from the Duo-Pak cartridge.
Epoxy adhesives are part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives," which also includes polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, and others. Epoxies begin as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical chain reaction when mixed, and then cure to form a solid plastic material. Once the two parts are mixed in their specified ratio, they begin the curing process and offer a limited working time where the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as need. This "work life" lasts anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours or longer. This class of structural adhesives provides high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula and better heat and chemical resistance than other common adhesives. Epoxies that are heat cured are more heat and chemical resistant than those that cure at room temperature. Epoxy adhesives are widely used in building and home construction, aircraft and automobile manufacture, bicycle, boat, golf clubs, ski, and snowboard assembly and a host of home use and other applications; virtually anywhere high-strength bonds are needed along with resistance to environmental conditions. These adhesives are popular for their ease of use, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Formulations can be created to make epoxies that are flexible or rigid, transparent or opaque, quick setting or slow setting. The versatility with which epoxy adhesives can be formulated helps meet almost any requirement for bonding wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics.
Industrial uses for epoxies range widely and include coatings, adhesives, and composite materials like carbon fiber and glass-reinforced plastic. They are the preferred choice for their ability to flow and conform to the work area, strong adhesion, chemical and heat resistance, and exceptional mechanical and electrical insulating properties.
