Protect gas tanks and frame rails during assembly of semi-truck trailer tractors and other commercial automotive vehicle exterior applications.
The protective tape is applied manually to the gas tanks. The end user removes the film manually after receipt of the truck. The frame rail tape is removed after transit and prior to manufacture. It protects the part prior to assembly of the truck.
  • Protect gas tanks and frame rails during assembly of semi-truck trailer tractors.
  • Adhesive removes cleanly: 3M™ Protective Tapes 24S56W and 64S58W have a high tack adhesive that removes cleanly from the frame rails. The film keeps the E-coat on the frame rails from degrading before painted. This is for appearance and warranty. If there are defects in the e-coat it could cause the body to rust, causing safety issues due to structural defects. The polished chrome or aluminum gas tank is exposed and Tape 3W25X or 3W26X must remove easily and cleanly in one piece. The 3 mil construction provides increased abrasion resistance.
  • Reduces rework: 3M™ Protective Tape prevents the frame rail and gas tanks from being scratched during production and assembly.
  • Reduces costs: Because the 3M™ Protective Tape prevents damage, this may help reduce costs for rework. The truck arrives in mint condition and deserving of the price tag charged the customer. There also may be no concern about rusting and safety issues, helping to prevent lawsuits, as well as lowering warranty claims.
