Permanent, simple overlap splices on uncoated paper at the re-reeler.
High tack, high shear strength double-sided tape holds firmly to create a permanent, simple overlap splice. If splice is scheduled for additional coating or other printing operations, tape down trailing or leading edge with a 3M single coated tape.

Process
Press 3M™ Repulpable Double Coated Splicing Tape 405 across the trailing edge of the paper at the start of the roll. Remove the liner. Press the edge of the paper from the next roll on top of the 3M tape to form an overlap splice.
  • High shear strength: 3M™ Repulpable Double Coated Splicing Tape 405 has a high tack adhesive which provides immediate strong bond leaving no exposed adhesive and preventing web breakage caused by adhesive blocking.
  • Versatile: Ideal for most permanent, simple overlap splices as well as core starting and roll closing.
  • FDA recognized adhesive: 3M Tape can be used on most food grade papers.
  • Easy-to-remove liner: Paper liner removes quickly to reduce application time and save labor costs.
  • Light Green adhesive color: Easily identifiable to help save time and increase productivity.
  • Heat resistant: Withstands high oven temperatures associated with web printing to prevent splice failure and help reduce down time.
  • Repulpable: Both 3M Tape and liner pass TAPPI method UM-213. No need to separate splice from waste.
