Masking Off Areas

Masking Powder Coded Surfaces Using Polyester Tape Application
Masking Powder Coded Surfaces Using Polyester Tape Application
Masking off areas not to be coated when powder coating bus bars, cabinets, metal furniture, light fixtures, etc.
For applications that require short-term, high-temperature (400°F, 204°C) backing and adhesive that comes off easily and does not transfer. Typically applied by hand.
3M™ Polyester Tape is applied to mask off areas where the powder coating is not wanted. Tape needs to be rubbed down and pushed fully into inside corners. Die-cut parts can be made by the customer or by 3M per the customer’s specification. Powder coatings are paint films applied as dry powders, which are applied via a process of electrical attraction and then melted in an oven to form a solid film.
