3M™ Grouper Plus System
Available exclusively to 3M’s business partners, the 3M™ Grouper Plus System provides both Medicare and non-Medicare DRG grouping and pricing for inpatient and outpatient claims data for providers and payers, as well as state and federal agencies. The system provides up-to-date claim edits for providers, payers, fiscal intermediaries, and state and federal agencies, and also calculates reimbursement of claims based on group assignments, allowing clients to choose the reimbursement methodology by claim or create their own. The 3M™ Grouper Plus System contains the tables and programs needed to assign a DRG and can be licensed with:
- CMS DRGs
- TRICARE
- All Patient DRG (AP-DRG)
- 3M™ APR DRG Software
- Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs)
- Ambulatory Patient Groups (APGs)
- Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs)
- Inpatient Psychiatric Facility DRGs (IPF DRGs)
- State Medicaid groupers
3M™ Core Grouping Software Microsoft® Windows® Based Systems
Designed for Microsoft® Windows®-based personal computer systems, 3M™ Core Grouping Software is also available to our business partners. This software supports processing of both inpatient and outpatient claims based on Medicare and non-Medicare payer prospective payment methodologies.
3M™ Clinical Risk Grouping (3M CRG) Software can be used by payers, researchers, or others as the basis for effective risk adjustment. Because 3M™ CRGs are clinically precise, they can be used as a powerful tool for disease management, provider profiling, and measuring and improving quality of care and outcomes. 3M™ CRGs align payment incentives with clinical goals.
Medical Necessity
3M™ Medical Necessity Dictionaries (for Medicare Parts A and B or customized for client-specific requirements)
Eliminate the regular need to collect, analyze, and validate Local Coverage Determination or National Coverage Determination (LCD and NCD) information or perform manual reviews.
3M™ Medical Necessity Dictionaries for Medicaid and Private Payers
This software is also available in both state- and payer-specific versions to provide Medicaid content for Texas Medicaid, California Medi-Cal, and payer-specific content for hospitals reimbursed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. 3M’s dictionaries can be embedded within existing HIS, claims, billing, and practice management systems to provide medical necessity validation during scheduling, registration, and claims processing. This offers a unique opportunity to deploy consistent medical necessity validation capabilities throughout the revenue cycle.
3M™ Medical Necessity Online
Web-based solution for medical necessity validation designed to reduce outpatient Medicare denials, write-offs, and claims rework; ensure appropriate and timely reimbursement; improve pre-service and point-of-service medical necessity checking processes; and help healthcare organizations to comply with CMS guidelines for validating Medicare coverage according to LCDs and NCDs before services are rendered. Allows you to edit for NCCI, CPT® and ICD-9 validity and generate an ABN that can be stored with an electronic signature(s).
3M™ Edit Engine (Medical Necessity and Compliance Modular Software Platform)
3M™ Edit Engine has a modular, ASP-based architecture that enables software developers, payers, and healthcare providers to readily integrate 3M’s industry-leading medical necessity data content, coding compliance edits, and user-defined custom edits into their own systems. With the 3M™ Edit Engine, claims, billing, practice management, and health information systems can "plug in" 3M’s coding compliance edits and medical necessity compliance data.
- 3M™ Claim Scrubber - is a secure, web-based or locally hosted claim validation application that can analyze claims in either real-time or batch mode. Claims are validated against 3M’s comprehensive clinical edits, which include medical necessity (local and national), CCI, ICD-9, and CPT®/HCPCS edits such as age, gender, applicable modifiers, and associated procedures.
Electronic Health Record Tools and Services
3M™ Enterprise Master Person Index with Advanced Matching Logic
Links acute and ambulatory data to provide a consistent method of identifying a patient across all care sites and encounters. The 3M™ Enterprise Master Person Index integrates and consolidates patient indexes from multiple registration systems into a single index, providing an accurate, centralized summary of both patient demographic and encounter information. It cross-references local patient identification systems to preserve the investment in legacy systems and also features Enhanced Record Matching Logic that uses a probabilistic matching algorithm to resolve multiple patient identities and also help avoid creating duplicate patient records.
3M™ Healthcare Data Dictionary
3M™ Healthcare Data Dictionary is a specialized, health information exchange (HIE) database that:
- Allows you to translate and integrate healthcare data from independent, legacy computer systems
- Provides a road map to the content and structure of patient data
- Defines and translates data elements and healthcare concepts found in a computerized patient record
- Reduces ambiguity by including the variations in names or numbers healthcare professionals use for a clinical or administrative concept in any language
3M’s dictionary has rich content, a flexible data structure, and is built with standard healthcare data sources as well as selected, specific controlled medical vocabularies. It provides coded, computable data that people can understand, terminology mapping, and real-time applications.
