Aerosol Cleaning for Automotive and Transportation

Non-flammable spray cleaning solvents in convenient aerosol form

Choosing the right aerosol cleaner for automotive assembly and maintenance tasks is a lot more complicated than it used to be.

The increasing use of sophisticated electronics and plastics has created issues ranging from material incompatibility to poor cleaning performance; while concerns about worker health, safety and the environment have brought growing regulatory scrutiny and restrictions on the use of a wide range of solvent chemistries.

Now, 3M™ Novec™ Aerosol Cleaners can help you simplify a wide range of tough automotive spray cleaning challenges – with a family of nonflammable, sustainable and effective cleaning solvents in convenient aerosol form.

Novec aerosol cleaners are highly effective for removing oils, dust, silicones, and other soils from engine and transmission components and other systems. They are also an ideal choice for flux cleaning, electrical contact cleaning and other electronics applications. Their low surface tension and low viscosity allows them to penetrate deep into tight geometries – while their excellent solvency helps loosen tough soils and carry them away. Novec aerosol cleaners dry quickly, leaving no residue, helping to ensure long-term reliability of sensitive electronic and mechanical components.

By combining effective spray cleaning performance with favorable environmental and safety properties, Novec aerosol cleaners offer you practical, sustainable alternatives to solvents based on HCFCs, HFCs, nPB and HAPs.

  • Fast drying; leave no residue
  • Nonflammable
  • Low toxicity
  • Favorable environmental profile
  • No HCFCs, HFCs, nPB or HAPs
  • Over 95% active solvent, for more cleans per can

Aerosol Cleaners for mechanical component, electronics cleaning and degreasing

Get more cleans per can!

Every Novec aerosol product can contains over 95% active solvent – for more cleaning power and more cleans per can. Only 5% of the can contents is devoted to the propellant, which is ordinary CO2.

Compare this to many competitive spray cleaning products, which may contain only 75% active solvent in conjunction with propellants such as tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) – a formulating technique these products require in order to be defined as "nonflammable" and/or to achieve VOC limitations.
