No.16 3M FORD FUSION RECAP:

Biffle Finishes 17th in Phoenix

AZONDALE, Ariz. (March 2, 2014) — Phoenix International Raceway was a weekend of new challenges for Greg Biffle and his No. 16 3M team, with new group qualifying and a new rules package.  Qualifying was a success, as Biffle made it to the final round and earned the sixth starting position.  During the race the 3M Ford lacked grip on the track and Biffle ultimately crossed the finish line in the 17th – position.

Phoenix was the first time the Sprint Cup cars used the new group qualifying format.  Biffle was one of the fastest 12 cars in the first session and advanced to the final round.  Biffle was one of the first cars on the track in each session and when the time was up he had landed the sixth starting position.

From the drop of the green flag, Biffle struggled with a lack of overall grip resulting in a loose handling condition.  Crew chief Matt Puccia called for wedge, shim and air pressure adjustments throughout the race, but nothing seemed to correct the handling conditions.

After 312-laps at the one-mile track Biffle had his hands full, but was able to earn a 17th-place.  The finish has Biffle sitting 10th in the overall point standings.

Kevin Harvick won the second race of the season, followed by Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr.   Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top five.  Next up the Sprint Cup Series heads to Sin City for 400-miles at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, coverage begins at 3:00 PM ET on FOX.
