No. 16 3M FORD FUSION:

Biffle Finishes 16th at Charlotte in 3M Ford Fusion

CONCORD, N.C. (October 12, 2013) – Greg Biffle started from the third position Saturday evening in front of a home crowd at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Unfortunately, as the race unfolded, Biffle struggled finding grip in his 3M Ford.  Stretching fuel mileage to the end, Biffle was able to salvage a 16th-place finish and maintain sixth-place in the Championship point standings.

Biffle battled to keep his track position in the top-five throughout the opening laps of the Bank of America 500, but a lack of grip took hold.  The team tried air pressure and track bar adjustments on their first pit stop, but to no avail, Biffle continued to lose track position.

On the next stop a left front shim was removed, but that didn’t seem to do the trick either.  Despite going a lap down to the field, the 3M team never gave up.  On one of the final pit stops, Biffle wanted the left front shim put back in.  That adjustment, combined with others from the race, got the 3M Ford much closer to where Biffle needed the handling to be.

In fuel conservation mode, Biffle stretched being two laps short, to making it all the way to the end while others ran out of fuel.  The strategy salvaged a 16th-place finish for Biffle and the 3M team at Charlotte.

Fellow Ford driver Brad Keselowski took home his first win of the season, while Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.  Next up for the Sprint Cup Series is unpredictable Superspeedway racing from Talladega.
