No.16 3M / W. B. MASON FORD FUSION RECAP:

Biffle Drives to 15th-Place Finish in New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. (July 14, 2013) – The Roush Fenway team has extra fan support in New Hampshire thanks to Red Sox Nation and the Fenway Sports Group, making the 1.058-mile track a home away from home.  Biffle’s No. 16 3M / W.B. Mason Ford got loose in qualifying resulting in a 22nd-place starting position.  Throughout the race it was a battle for track position and, in the end, Biffle survived a green-white-checkered finish to cross the finish line 15th, maintaining eighth in the point standings.

In the opening green flag run of the 301-lap race Biffle reported back to his team that his Ford was tight from the center off.  On the team’s first green flag stop of the night crew chief Matt Puccia called for four tires, fuel and one round up on the track bar.  The caution came out a few laps later as the field was still cycling through pit stops.  Already having service completed, Biffle lined up 12th for the restart.

The team took a bigger swing at adjustments on the next stop, but the changes didn’t work and Biffle continued to lose rear grip and struggle with turn.  Over the course of the race Biffle struggled with handling and track position.  Pit stops varied between two and four tires at a time but nothing seemed to be what Biffle needed.

The 12th caution of the race came on lap 298, setting the field up for a green-white-checkered finish.  Going into the final run, Biffle started 21st and worked his way up to 15th when the checkered flag waved.  The finish kept Biffle eighth in the overall point standings.

Competing part-time for Michael Waltrip Racing, Brian Vickers took home the checkered flag, his first win since 2009.  Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton, Brad Keselowski and Aric Almirola rounded out the top five.  Next weekend the Sprint Cup Series has its final off weekend of the season before heading to the historical Indianapolis Motor Speedway to see who will get to kiss the bricks.eedway.
