Sustaining the Environment
3M has an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System for its facilities, business units and subsidiaries globally. The system was developed to identify EHS issues impacting 3M facilities and businesses,to develop action plans to address the priority issues, implement the action plans, track progress on the action plans through regular reviews and audit the system. The key to the EHS Management System is raising EHS issues at the business unit and subsidiary level where we can provide more proactive management.
Tracking Environmental Progress
Within this EHS Management System, an EHS Scorecard helps track our progress. This is done at the facility, division/subsidiary and corporate levels. In the EHS Scorecard, eco-efficiency metrics cover the critical environmental performance aspects of our operations. For some of these environmental metrics, we have set targets to drive continuous and health metrics.
