How-to
Start with a sturdy cardboard box in good condition.
Create a template for the fabric covering by placing a piece of craft paper on the work surface. Place the bottom of the box on the paper and trace around it with a pencil.
Rotate the box 90 degrees to one side so the side of the box is flat on the paper. Line up the bottom edge with the outline just drawn.
Trace around the side of the box. This portion of the template will be used to cover the side of the box.
Repeat these steps for the other three sides of the box. You will have a template that resembles a plus sign. Cut out the paper template.
Repeat this process for the top of the box.
Place the paper template for the bottom of the box onto the fabric, centering any design in the fabric in the center of the box. Secure the template to the fabric with straight pins. Cut the fabric out with scissors or a rotary cutter and cutting mat. Repeat with box top.
Protect surfaces from overspray with newspaper, plastic or craft paper.
Follow directions on can and work in a well-ventilated area. Spray box surface and fabric back with 3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Adhesive.
Wait 30 seconds and place the box bottom on the fabric, matching corners, then smooth the fabric onto the box bottom.
Wrap the fabric up the sides of the box and fold the excess to the inside of the box.
Repeat steps 9 to 11 for the box top.
Fill with papers, supplies, and other sundries—and enjoy a more organized home!
