Microfiltration for Non-pasteurized Beer

Microporous membrane filters that help produce microbiologically stable with out pasteurization

Microporous membrane filters have been employed in breweries for decades to help control microorganisms in non-pasteurized beer. Easy to use and reliable, microporous membrane filters are surface-type filters and operate by essentially sieving remaining microorganisms from the beer.

Key attributes to consider when selecting a membrane filter include demonstrated retention of beer specific microorganisms, a integrity testable design, and durability in regards to the cleaning and sanitation protocols used in the brewery.

For best process economies, many brewers find that installing prefilters just upstream of the final membrane filters helps protect and extend the service life of the final filters. Brewers can select from cylindrical membrane prefilters ( LifeASSURETM BLA series filters) or cellulose based lenticular style filters (Zeta PlusTM H and MH series filters).
