Recommended cementation
Restorations made with Lava™ Ultimate Restorative must be bonded with an adhesive resin cement. 3M ESPE recommends RelyX™ Ultimate Adhesive Resin Cement with Scotchbond™ Universal Adhesive - the primer and adhesive are in one bottle. The flexibility of this sytem enables you to etch the tooth preparation using a self-etch, selective-etch or a total-etch technique all with one system.
It's indicated for a full range of permanent adhesive, single-unit restorations.

Science
The science behind nanotechnology delivers:
Exceptional durability
Excellent polish retention
Less wear to opposing enamel than glass ceramics
Delivers the edge you need.
The less brittle nature of Lava Ultimate restorative allows for easy milling and better edge quality.

Lava™ Ultimate Restorative is a uniquely different CAD/CAM material.
10-year warranty* - tough, resilient and durable.
Down the road, Lava Ultimate restorative will continue to perform.
The impressive durability of resin nano ceramic CAD/CAM material results from its high flexural strength and fracture toughness. In fact, it's so tough that 3M ESPE has you covered with an industry-leading 10-Year Limited Warranty!
Shock absorbency cushions against chewing forces
A resin nano ceramic has an elastic modulus that's comparable to dentin - which is much lower than what brittle glass ceramic materials or PFM veneering porcelains provide. This emables Lava Ultimate restorative to better absorb chewing forces and reduce stress to the restoration - which is especially advantageous for crowns over implants.
The periodontal ligament is removed by the implant procedure, which removes shock absorbance or sensory function - so the crown may fracture or chip.
It's an easy choice
You can benefit immediately by the unique handling and functional advantages
Whether you have a chairside system or not, there are many reasons to prefer Lava Ultimate restorative. It's tough, yet gentle. Resilient, yet easy to adjust. It truly is the ultimate CAD/CAM restorative material.
Less wear to opposing enamel than glass ceramics
Easy to adjust and re-polish, right in your operatory, so you can achieve the ideal occlusion
It allows access to an abutment and implant at any time. Just cut a hole, reseal it with a composite and re-polish

Brilliant esthetics with a long-lasting polish.
The chairside block that was born beautiful.
Nanotechnology on the inside means a beautiful, long-lasting polish on the outside. In fact, it takes only minutes to give your milled Lava Ultimate restorations an amazing, enamel-like luster. Tests prove the brilliant polish will last - and no firing is required.
Easy to mill … and easy to work with, too!
Lava Ultimate restorative brings new meaning to the word "productivity."
Your milled Lava™ Ultimate restoration can be finished in a few easy steps.

Fatigue Strength
(MPa)
This study shows Lava™ Ultimate Restorative is the only material
that maintains its initial strength when changing from a dry to a wet
environment. However, all materials show a decrease in strength
upon cycle fatigue in water. 3M ESPE internal data.

Milling Updates:
Will an update to my CEREC® mill software be required before I can mill Lava Ultimate blocks?
These service packs are full updates which mean that all previous patches are included. The customer only has to download the new update onto their existing system and they are ready to go. The full patch adds Lava Ultimate restorative to the drop down menu and implements the block sizes and milling parameters for optimized milling.
For older software versions please contact your CEREC representative.
Which CEREC mills are able to process Lava Ultimate restorative? Will it work for InLab mills as well?
A Sirona qualified and optimized workflow will only be available for CEREC and InLab MC XL mills with CEREC SW 4.0 or InLab 3D V3.8 (see above).
Will an update to my E4D mill software be required before being able to mill Lava Ultimate blocks?
E4D Software Upgrade v2.0 is now available for all E4D users. Customers must contact E4D Customer Service at 800-537-6070 or go to www.e4d.com/upgrade to learn more information about the upgrade and to reserve their spot on the upgrade list. All upgrades should be completed before the end of 2011. If you have any questions, please contact your Henry Schein FSC or E4D Specialist.
