Our 3M™ Cloth 964F is designed to provide efficient surface finishing on a variety of metals including soft metals like aluminum. Made with 3M™ ceramic grain attached to a water resistant polyester cloth backing using a resin bond, this belt can aggressively sand and finish surface without discoloring the metal. Can be used in either wet or dry applications.
Y-weight cloth backing is tough and flexible for aggressive sanding action
Polyester material is water resistant to allow use with liquid lubricants
Resin bonding material resists heat and helps to prevent discoloration
Ceramic abrasive grains offer excellent cut rate and life for better performance
Closed coat provides greater grain density and finer finish on hard surfaces
High Quality Construction
Our 3M™ Cloth 964F is best suited for metal sanding and finishing thanks to its durability and fast cutting abrasive material. It’s flexible, Y-weight cloth backing provides smooth operation and durability and can conform to the shape of contoured parts for consistent finishing. The abrasive side features a closed coat of grains for aggressive finishing and a distinct maroon helps to easily differentiate it from other cloths.
3M™ Ceramic Grain
Cloth 964F is engineered using 3M™ ceramic grain, which is engineered to cut fast and handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic grain surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability and makes our 3M™ Cloth 964F an excellent choice for refining, dimensioning, stock removal, scale removal, stroke sanding and weld leveling.
Heat Resistant and Fast Cutting
This cloth also uses a resin bonding which is specially designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration, which can occur during sanding. This bond is very tough and excellent for precision work on hard and soft wood. This also allows for faster sanding and a higher cut rate. Closed coat construction features a dense spread of abrasive grains across the surface of the cloth. This design cuts fast and is ideal for deburring or producing a grain pattern and provides a consistent, fine finish.
