A 3M Foundation grant supports the USO's United Through Service program, which connects separated military families through the bonding experience of reading aloud.
Through this program, military parents read to their children on camera from ships, bases, camps and USO sites around the world.
When children see their mom or dad reading a story, just as if they were sitting at home together, it provides reassurance and an emotional connection with their deployed mom or dad.
Serving Our Troops
The 3M Foundation supported the Serving Our Troops event where volunteers traveled to Kuwait to serve dinner to the 1st Brigade Combat Team Red Bull Soldiers. Local Minnesota family members were included via live video link.
