Meet Our Team

The Integrated Marketing Development team operates at the center of the company as an internal marketing and communications consultancy. Team members are recent graduates of top-rated MBA programs and leverage their past work experience outside of 3M to bring innovative thinking and marketing leadership to 3M’s 40+ divisions.

Amy Marrin

Background:

Amy graduated from Indiana University with majors in Marketing, Operations Management‚ and International Studies. Upon graduating‚ Amy moved to Chicago to begin her marketing career. Amy’s first job was at News America Marketing (a division of News Corporation) which sells free standing inserts (FSIs) and in-store advertising vehicles. In this role‚ Amy interacted with clients in marketing roles from large corporations. This experience sparked her interest to someday work in the marketing department of a company. Amy later transitioned to a marketing position at a commercial real estate company. After four years in Chicago‚ Amy moved to St. Louis to pursue her MBA at Washington University. Between her first and second years of business school she interned in brand management at Nestlé Purina. Upon graduation‚ she joined 3M as a member of the Integrated Marketing Development group.

Background:

In 2001‚ Sean graduated with honors from Georgia Tech with a BS in mechanical engineering. After graduation Sean joined the Washington‚ DC office of the Dick Corporation‚ a construction management and general contracting firm based in Pittsburgh. While a member of the DC office‚ Sean managed several short duration construction projects for the Navy/Marine Corps. He later departed the mid-Atlantic to assume roles on projects in California (federal courthouse in Fresno‚ CA) and the Caribbean (Viceroy and Cap Juluca resorts in Anguilla). Though Sean enjoyed life in the Caribbean‚ he eventually decided that his interests lay beyond the construction industry. In 2009‚ he returned to school to pursue his MBA at Vanderbilt University in Nashville‚ TN. Excited by the field of marketing‚ Sean ventured beyond the core marketing course load to work on projects for the Americana Music Association‚ Lexus of Nashville‚ Bridgestone Tire‚ and the feature film Deadline (to be released in spring 2012) just to name a few. After graduating‚ Sean relocated to the Twin Cities to join 3M’s Integrated Marketing Development group.

Background:

Danielle graduated from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management with majors in Marketing, Spanish, and International Business. Upon graduation, she began her career at General Mills in a rotational development program. She started with the National Restaurant Accounts team, providing marketing and sales support for custom products to some of the largest restaurant chains in the country. In 2009, General Mills relocated her to Boston for field sales rotations. Her first field role was in the Foodservice segment, working with distributors and calling directly on strategic K-12, College & University, and Healthcare accounts in Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In her latest role, she managed the Convenience Store market in New England, selling a broad portfolio of products and calling on key distributors and regional chains.

Since she has always possessed a passion for marketing, she entered the part-time MBA program at Boston University in 2010, focusing her studies on marketing and strategic management. Upon graduation, Danielle moved back to Minnesota and joined the IMD team in March 2013.

Background:

Katie graduated from Northwestern University in 2011 with a master's degree in integrated marketing communications, specializing in interactive marketing and brand strategy. While in graduate school, she spent the summer working for Motorola Solutions on a new product launch within its enterprise division. Prior to school, Katie managed a fundraising territory for the American Heart Association in Austin, TX. Her responsibilities included marketing & communications activities, fundraising, and donor development. In addition, Katie also holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University and spent several years working in the media as a reporter for Suburban News Publications and as a promotions director for Clear Channel Radio in Columbus, OH. Katie joined the IMD team in March of 2012.

Background:

Tyler graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with majors in Journalism and Scandinavian Studies. He began his career at Epic Systems Corporation as a technical writer‚ authoring software manuals and online help systems and coordinating the QA of a content management system and other documentation tools. He then moved to Great Lakes Higher Education and shifted his focus to corporate communications and marketing‚ becoming the supervisor of marketing communications responsible for overseeing all product-related marketing and the building of a support structure for the national sales team. In 2010‚ Tyler entered the full-time MBA program at the University of Wisconsin's School of Business with a focus on brand and product management. He interned with Sears Holdings Corp. between the first and second years of school and joined the Integrated Marketing Development group at 3M upon graduation.

Background:

Mike graduated with a BA from the University of Wisconsin in 2005 and majored in Communication Arts. His first job after graduation was in the hospitality industry where he managed a restaurant and live music venue. After three years he transitioned into the Wine and Spirits industry tackling the roles of Merchandiser and POS Manager for Frank Liquor in Middleton‚ WI before joining Capitol-Husting of Milwaukee‚ WI as a Sales Representative. In 2010‚ Mike enrolled in the full-time MBA program at Vanderbilt University. He focused his studies on marketing and strategy while working on projects for Adobe (Omniture)‚ Brown-Forman and Oreck. Between his first and second years of graduate school‚ he worked for Hanes Brands Inc. as a marketing intern in the Innerwear division. Upon graduation‚ Mike joined the Integrated Marketing Development group at 3M.

Background:

Laura Chesnut graduated from Grinnell College in 2006 with a major in Economics and a concentration in Global Development Studies. She then moved to Namibia to complete a post-graduate Grinnellcorps Fellowship, where she ran the training and outreach programs at the Gobabeb Centre, an arid-ecology research and sustainable development NGO. She also spent a year at the Desert Research Foundation of Namibia in the capital city, Windhoek, developing and implementing a “whole-school approach” to energy efficiency and management in secondary schools. During her time in Africa, Laura became interested in the business side of economic development and decided to pursue a career in marketing. From 2008-2010 she served as the Marketing & Admissions coordinator of the Business Bridge program at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. Laura earned an MBA specialized in brand management from the Wisconsin School of Business in May 2012. During business school she interned at SCJohnson, working as part of the Glade Value channel team. She joined the Integrated Marketing Development team at 3M in August of 2012.

Background:

Laura graduated from the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2006 with majors in Public Relations and English. She then went to work in public relations for the University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center, the umbrella organization for the University’s six professional health schools and 25+ interdisciplinary health programs, centers and institutes. In this role, Laura managed both the proactive and reactive media relations needs of her internal clients. She later transitioned to work exclusively for the Medical School in internal communications‚ where she led special projects and supported the strategic communication needs of senior leadership.

In September 2009‚ Laura entered the part-time MBA program at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management‚ focusing on marketing and strategic management. During her last summer of business school‚ she studied abroad in Central and Eastern Europe where she‚ along with classmates from Carlson and Vienna University of Economics and Business‚ worked on a live case study with the Toro Company analyzing how to improve its consumer lawn mower business in Germany and Austria. Upon graduation‚ Laura joined 3M as a member of the Integrated Marketing Development team.

Background:

Ashley graduated with her Bachelor's degree from the University of California - Berkeley in 2005 with majors in English and Spanish. With a strong desire to work internationally‚ Ashley joined the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Programme and moved to southern Japan where she organized community events and taught for two years. She then became Associate Editor of the Asian Journal‚ a print and online newspaper based in Southern California‚ to pursue her passion for communications. In that role‚ she developed relationships with advertising agencies‚ oversaw content and deployed digital media strategies. She became fascinated by the business side of the media industry and decided to pursue an MBA at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business‚ graduating in 2012. Ashley joined the Integrated Marketing Development team at 3M in August of 2012.

Background:

Angela graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003 with a BA in English. Fueled by work experiences in Finland and a semester abroad in England‚ she moved to central London a few years after graduating. She remained there for four years‚ while working in marketing‚ sales and property management within the real estate industry. Deciding an MBA degree was necessary for propelling future career growth‚ she relocated back to the United States and attended the Carlson School of Management where she graduated in 2012 with an emphasis in marketing. Throughout her degree program‚ she worked as a Product Marketer for Datacard Group in their security supplies division‚ and also enjoyed copy-writing and consulting for the health care industry on a freelance basis. Angela joined the Integrated Marketing Development team at 3M in August 2012.

Background:

Meghan graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2006 with a major in Political Science and minor in Middle Eastern Studies. Following graduation‚ Meghan joined The Weather Channel (TWC) to work as an interactive advertising campaign specialist for weather.com. After a year‚ Meghan was promoted into the sales organization of weather.com‚ and managed advertising sales for a number of clients in the Southeast. Before going back to business school‚ Meghan was again promoted to Associate Ad Product Manager for the international sites of weather.com and TWC mobile‚ developing custom ad product opportunities for international clients. In 2010‚ Meghan entered the full-time MBA program at Emory University's Goizueta School of Business‚ focusing on marketing and corporate strategy. Between her first and second years of school‚ she worked for 3M as a marketing strategist intern in the IMD program. Meghan served as Executive Vice President of the Graduate Business Association her second year of business school‚ and upon graduation joined the Integrated Marketing Development team at 3M.

Background:

Lindsay graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 2001 with a BA in English‚ art history and journalism. Originally from Edina‚ MN‚ she returned to the Twin Cities after graduation. She spent six years in marketing at the Minneapolis Jewish Federation‚ a local non-profit‚ where she developed and managed the organization’s major marketing and communications initiatives. While working full-time‚ she completed her MBA in marketing and strategic management at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and was selected to participate in the 2007 3M International Marketing Consulting Project in Vienna‚ Austria and Warsaw‚ Poland. She joined the Integrated Marketing Development team in May 2008. An active volunteer in the community and with the 3M Women’s Leadership Network‚ Lindsay was honored to receive the 3M Community Volunteer Award in 2009. In 2012‚ she assumed a new role on the IMD team and now has operations‚ professional development and recruiting responsibilities.

Background:

After graduating with a design degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout‚ Karyn joined 3M in the lab providing graphic design support to 3M product development‚ packaging and print communications. After 4 years‚ Karyn joined the Corporate Identity team and was awarded a patent for the development of graphic solutions on printed Post-it brand flags. She eventually assumed management responsibilities for the 3M Brand Identity and Design department where she led the effort to globally manage a consistent and relevant image for 3M in the marketplace. During this time‚ she completed her MBA in Marketing Management at the University of St. Thomas‚ graduating with honors. In 2000‚ Karyn formed a new talent and marketing leadership development program‚ Integrated Marketing Development (IMD)‚ to recruit‚ hire and develop experienced MBAs to create a pool of cutting-edge marketing talent for 3M. She continues to lead the IMD program and provides her design experience to the evolution of the 3M brand globally.
