3M Singapore is a wholly owned subsidiary of 3M Company. 3M Singapore markets nearly all of the company’s major products. Major product categories include industrial tapes and adhesives, abrasives, flexible circuits, safety and security solutions, RFID solutions, commercial graphics, reflective film, homecare and stationery products, and heath care solutions.

The company serves a multitude of consumer and industrial markets and is a market leader in many of these markets, which include electronics, oil and gas, shipbuilding, automotive aftermarket, construction, health care, semiconductor, aerospace, and consumer markets.

3M’s presence in Singapore today includes a Sales and Marketing office, the 3M Woodlands Plant and the 3M Innovation Centre. In addition to serving its customers in Singapore, the company provides sales and support services to Bangladesh, Brunei, Myanmar, and Nepal.

3M Facility at Yishun
3M Singapore markets more than 5,000 products from its sales and marketing operation housed at Yishun. This facility also houses finance, logistics and other support operations.

3M Woodlands Plant
The 3M Singapore Woodlands Plant was at one time the third largest 3M Plant built, with a total floor space of nearly 53,000 m2 and a production floor space of nearly 35,000 m2. This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility started production in October 1998.

With its focus on manufacturing excellence and quality, the Plant won the Singapore Manufacturing Excellence Award – Operational Excellence in 2007, and the Singapore Quality Award – Singapore’s highest accolade for business excellence – in 2003. The Plant also has certification in ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

The Plant manufactures custom flexible circuits, sintered abrasives and electronic adhesives for customers throughout Asia, USA and Europe. 3M’s custom flexible circuits help boost the performance and functionality of Internet servers, computer peripherals, disk drives, cell phones and navigation displays. These circuits help make possible the full-color LCD displays on cell phones, other mobile wireless devices and computer monitors. They also allow ink-jet printers to print high-quality color photographic images, and enable the high-speed data transmission that is essential for broadband communications.

3M Innovation Centre
The 3M Innovation Centre provides advanced capabilities for more than 80 research and development professionals and laboratory engineers to pursue new products and engage in customer technical support, product design and customization, application research, process enhancement and engineering support. Research and development professionals and laboratory scientists and engineers devote themselves to solving customer problems and developing solutions to ensure that customer needs are better met. They obtain first-hand information on customer needs through frequent customer meetings and visits.

History of 3M Singapore
When 3M first established itself in Singapore in 1966, it started in a small rented office in Trafalgar Street with eight employees. As our business began to develop and expand, we gradually increased our presence. In 1970, we moved to our own building at Leng Kee Road. After a short while, we expanded further by acquiring an additional building at the same location.

As our business gained more momentum, we shifted to an office building and warehouse at Tagore Lane in 1979. Our sales and marketing operation was also housed in Tagore Lane under our subsidiary, 3M Technologies Pte Ltd.

We continued our growth by creating the 3M Innovation Centre (then known as Customer Technical Centre) at Jalan Pemimpin in 1994 with an investment of about S$11 million.

3M Singapore further expanded with an investment of S$400 million in a plant producing Flexible Circuits at Woodlands Avenue 7. The 3M Woodlands Plant is the only 3M facility which begins operations with the largest initial built-up area in 3M’s history. Covering an area of 550,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was commissioned by Deputy Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong on 6 March 1999.

In 2008, our operations at Tagore Lane were relocated to our current facility at Yishun.

Today, 3M has more than 40 years of successful operations in Singapore with more than 1,200 employees.
