Does 3M™ Opticlude™ Eye patch contain natural rubber latex?
There is no natural rubber latex in the product or packaging.

How can I make my child wear a patch?
Please refer to the Engaging Your Child section.

What is the Opticlude eye patch made of?
The Opticlude eye patch is made of a breathable backing, a non-adherent pad and a very gentle adhesive.

Can I use one Opticlude eye patch repeatedly?
The Opticlude eye patch is a single-use product.

I find it hard to remove the patch without hurting my child, how should I remove the patch?
If the patch is only worn for a few hours a day it may be harder to remove than if left on for a longer period of time. The reason for this is the slow decrease in adhesion of the patch which occurs over time. If the patch needs to be removed after only a few hours, wet the patch with a damp cloth and then slowly peel back horizontally to the skin.

How do I apply the Opticlude eye patch?

  1. The Opticlude eye patch should be applied to a clean dry area with the eye closed and face muscles relaxed
  2. Remove the protective paper and apply the pad below the eye-brow and ensure the narrow end of the pad is positioned towards the nose
  3. The eye needs to stay closed so the whole eye area can be covered
  4. Gently press the pad in place to ensure that the adhesive part of the pad is in contact with the skin
  5. The pad should be changed accordingly to prescribed recommendation.

How do I remove the Opticlude eye patch?
Slowly peel the edges back toward the centre of the pad. Gently peel back the pad.

Is it safe to dispose of the Opticlude eye patch as normal household rubbish?
Yes. The patch is perfectly safe to dispose of as normal household rubbish.

How long can my child wear the patch for?
The length of time will be set by the Orthoptist.

What happens if my child has a reaction to the patch?
Although the patch is made from skin-friendly materials, in the event of a reaction remove the patch and contact your GP or Orthoptist for advice.
