Entrance mats are there to remove dirt and moisture from your visitors’ shoes.
It’s simple. Short mats can’t remove dirt and moisture like long mats can. Some mats are so short you only step on them with one foot. Some you can step over altogether. Mats this short need replacing with longer ones. Ideally you need two types of mat, one after the other: Primary matting and Secondary matting.
What does Primary Entrance Matting do?
It is the first mat your visitors step on. Its job is to scrape and remove the bulk of the dirt. You must ensure that each foot gets to contact the scraper at least once.
Minimum length = 2 metres.
What does Secondary Entrance Matting do?
It is the next surface your visitors step on, after the primary mat has scraped off the bulk of the dirt. Its job is to remove moisture. This takes 2-3 steps per foot.
Minimum length = 4 metres.
With 3M’s matting systems you can be sure that your visitors leave their dirt and moisture at the front door.
