Clinical Encoders (Terminology and Classification)
The 3M™ Medicode™ and 3M™ Dialect™ Clinical Encoders have been in use in acute care trusts across the UK since 1990, playing a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate diagnostic and procedure coding. Under the new financial flows, Medicode and Dialect clinical encoders will play a key part in assisting coders with identifying complications and comorbidities, as well as proper sequencing of multiple procedures that will affect HRG grouping.
3M Medicode ICD-10/OPCS4.2 Clinical Encoder
The Medicode clinical encoder incorporates all of the coding classification rules, regulations and recommendations, such as external cause, dagger/asterisk and paired procedure coding, site and laterality coding. A software upgrade to OPCS4.3 is available from January 2006.

3M Dialect Clinical Terms v2, Clinical Terms v3 and SNOMED CT Clinical Encoder
The Dialect clinical encoder facilitates efficient terminology coding that is mapped to currently used classifications (ICD-10/OPCS) and incorporates all of the coding classification rules, regulations and recommendations, such as external cause, dagger/asterisk and paired procedure coding, site and laterality coding.

3M™ Medlink™ Interface to PAS/EPR Systems
The Medlink interface module allows 3M's clinical encoders to communicate with your PAS/EPR system. The Medlink bidirectional interface module accommodates flat-file, ODBC, DDE, DLL and cross-platform TCP/IP calls.

HRG Grouper and HRG Validation Tools
3M™ Integroup™ HRG Grouper
The Integroup HRG grouper is an integral tool built into all 3M's clinical encoders. It allows episodes of care to be categorised and measured utilising diagnostic and procedure codes in conjunction with key factors such as age, sex, and length of stay, to determine HRG groups on-line and in real time.
3M™ Sequent™ HRG Validation Tool
Under the new financial flows, clinical coding accuracy is more important than ever and coders have a greater need for additional tools. The Sequent HRG validation tool module, which works with both Medicode or Dialect clinical encoders, helps improve coding accuracy.

3M™ Integrity™ Encoding Auditing Tool
The Integrity tool provides clinical coding auditors with online assessment prompts that help to ensure consistent high quality audits. Integrity auditing tools help auditors identify coding errors and possible omissions, as well as identifying training needs. In addition, Integrity auditing tools re-coding/comparison of episodes quantifies coding discrepancies by measuring their HRG impact.

The Integrity Plus auditing tool offers all the functionality of the Integrity auditing tool while strictly adhering to the "Data Quality Audit Framework for Coded Clinical Data" issued by the NHSIA and data audit principles, methodologies and worksheets contained therein.
