Much as you would expect from a world-leading organisation, we have a sophisticated selection process. It allows you to showcase your talents and competencies. Throughout the online application process, we aim to make it as informative and enjoyable as possible. There are four steps:
Step 1: Online application - estimated completion time: 30 minutes
First, read through the background details on the function that interests you most and be sure to find out people’s experiences first-hand in our Profiles section. Then complete a short application form by clicking on the Apply Now link below.
Step 2: Verbal & numerical critical reasoning tests - estimated completion time: 25 minutes per test
If you meet our selection criteria, we’ll email you - usually within a week - and give you access to the next level of our website. Here, you’ll be asked to complete numerical and verbal critical reasoning tests online which assess your ability to interpret numerical and verbal data. Please note that if you are invited to assessment centre you will be required to complete supervised tests of the same level.
Step 3: Telephone Interview - estimated completion time: 30 minutes
If you meet our testing standards, you’ll be contacted to arrange a short telephone interview. This generally takes place within 10 days.
Step 4: Assessment Centre - 1 or 2 days
If successful at telephone interview, and shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a one or two-day assessment centre. First round assessment centres will typically take place in November & December and will continue until all roles are filled.
You’ll take part in a variety of exercises, including presentations, group tasks and an individual interview. You will also be required to complete supervised tests of the same level as the online ones. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to find out more about 3M and meet employees both formally and informally.
We aim to make a formal job offer to successful candidates within five working days of this final stage.
