Hygiene the Easy Way

Your braces and arch wires do not have to complicate your dental hygiene, but it does change. The key facts on ideal oral hygiene using fixed braces follow below:

Dental floss is always perfectly suited to removing food particles and plaque from interdental spaces. Not at all so easy with fixed braces? Threading normal dental floss under the wires can prove difficult. It is easier with dental floss with a reinforced end. If you have threaded the dental floss under the wire of the braces, slide it upwards and downwards along the tooth surface. Make sure not to apply too much pressure to the arch wire as you do so. Then carefully brush each area around the rubber ligatures.

Still unsure? Your orthodontist will be glad to show you how to properly use dental floss despite your braces.

Little tip:

Alternatively, interdental brushes are also eminently suitable for tooth brushing between braces and arches.
