In Harmony with Your Smile

It doesn't matter whether you laugh, talk, chew or yawn: Your jaw is constantly moving - together with a series of sinews, muscles and joints. Therefore a misaligned tooth affects much more than "just" the teeth themselves.

What is open bite?

You can tell an open bite by a gap showing between some teeth when you clench them. They cannot perform their chewing function properly because the distance between the teeth is too large at these points. Both the front teeth and teeth in the lateral jaw area can be affected by an open bite.

Open bite - possible consequences

An open bite can have many implications. Trouble eating and speaking are the most frequent. Not being able to close your lips properly due to an open bite often results in mouth breathing. This again favours greater susceptibility to sore throats, pharyngitis, cavities and parodontitis.
