3M Telecommunications offers an extensive range of housings, closures and connection technologies for use within outside plant environments. The proven splice methods Scotchlok or MS2 provide the maximum number of splices in the smallest possible space within closures where the use of SID, STG or QSA connectors offer the best solutions for housings.

3M Telecommunications extensive ‘know-how’ has produced a variety of closure sealing options with both encapsulated and mechanically-closed closures available. For example, the BPEO family of closures are re-enterable and do not require specialist tools or additional materials such as gaskets or mastic.

In outside plant it is critical to know the exact location of all underground (subterranean) networks. This is especially true for fibre optic networks where there is no metallic element in the cable. Marking the network will save time and effort and costly mistakes on maintenance, re-entry and new installations. 3M Telecommunications offers an advanced technology product portfolio for electronically marking the underground network. With 3M EMS and Locators it is possible to map the FTTX network and trace it precisely.
