Team3M has made a good start. With 5 wild cards in hand this new cycling team has been attracting a lot of attention.

The riders have already managed to achieve several top-10 positions and a number of cyclists have had several personal victories. Tom Goovaerts, for instance, came in first in the Ronde van Woensdrecht, Mike Terpstra came seventh in the Volta Limburg Classic and Timothy Stevens achieved an honourable 3rd place in the final classification of the 2daagse van Gaverstreek and came 3rd twice in stage races.

“With regard to our growth objectives, we are seeing the performance of our cyclists improving with every week that passes. We continue to train our cyclists in a responsible and stimulating manner, and prepare them as well as possible for their races. Physically, but also mentally and socially. Cooperation within the team with good internal communications, establishing a balance within a team where every cyclist is of course keen on winning: those are the issues we are working on at the moment to transform these into success,” says Bernard Moerman, General Manager of Cycling Center.

Ronald Faas, Team3M Liaison, states: “We are now seeing the results of Cycling Center’s extensive experience in managing cyclists. Because for us, that is what it’s all about: Making Progress Possible - the all-round optimum development of our young cyclists in order to help them achieve their maximum potential. It is our ambition to be among the top teams within approximately four years. We have now taken another step in that direction.”

Commercially the team and its sponsor are also doing well. Team3M has managed to attract quite some attention. By sponsoring Team3M, 3M wants to increase awareness of its brand in the Benelux even further and generate attention to the products it is marketing and developing for the cycling sector and others. 3M has its eye on many opportunities for developing innovative solutions. Says Ronald Faas: “In very cold weather, we often see cyclists have to give up due to hypothermia. We are now developing new shirts which contain insulation material. We also want to add Scotchlite™reflective materials to shirts, to improve the visibility of cyclists in the dark. Another product is Cavilon™, a protective cream preventing bedsores for patients who are confined to their beds. Our cyclists use it on their bums. It prevents saddle sore.”

The first three months of Team3M have lived up to expectations, not only as regards the team’s performance but also on the field of brand awareness of 3M and the image of Team3M within the sports scene. At the moment, Team3M has approximately one hundred races planned.
