Radio Frequency Identification

How does Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology work?

RFID tags are fixed to library items and the memory chip within them is programmed to contain information that identifies the item that they are affixed to. RFID tags not only contain an item identifier that does not require line of sight to be read but it can also be programmed for security. The RFID reader within the security system detects items that have not been checked out.

Why choose RFID?

RFID technology is first and foremost a productivity system that enables the efficient tracking of materials throughout a library. RFID allows libraries to easily and affordably manage circulation, inventory, and security in one complete system.

Why 3M RFID?
