3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoropolymers are commonly found in wire & cable applications such as extruded or wrapped cable insulations, but also in injection moulded electrical components (e.g. sockets, connectors, etc.). Fluoropolymers posses excellent dielectrical properties and have a very good flame rating.

Extruded Cable Insulation

For their excellect dielectric properties and good fire behaviour, 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoropolymers are often used in extruded cable insulations.

Wrapped Cable Insulation

Wrapped cables with unsintered PTFE tape insulation are widely used as equipment wire and multi-core cables for high end applications, for example in the aerospace segment. The unsintered PTFE tape is spirally wrapped and afterwards sintered. The main features of wrapped PTFE cable are flame resistance, good insulation, excellent dielectric properties as well as universal chemical resistance and thermal stability.

Connectors

Injection moulding parts made of Dyneon melt processable fluoropolymer resins are successfully used electrical components such as sleeves, sockets, connectors and switches that require mechanical strength, chemical inertness, excellent dielectrical properties and flame rating.
