Fluoropolymers in
Wire & Cables

Excellent dielectric properties.
Applied to preventing black-outs in hazardous environments.

At 3M, we create polymers that ensure current keeps flowing. In extruded or wrapped cable insulations, or injection moulded electrical components like sockets or connectors, we keep the electrical tensions encapsulated.

Connectors

Injection moulding parts made of Dyneon melt processable fluoropolymer resins are successfully used in electrical components such as sleeves, sockets, connectors and switches that require mechanical strength, chemical inertness, excellent dielectrical properties and flame rating.

Wrapped Cable Insulation

Looking for flame resistance, good insulation, excellent dielectric properties, universal chemical resistance and thermal stability? Wrapped cables with unsintered PTFE tape insulation are widely used as equipment wire and multi-core cables for high-end applications, e.g. in the aerospace segment. The unsintered PTFE tape is spirally wrapped and then sintered.
