Turbocharger Hose

Turbochargers, used to boost the performance of a car by increasing the air density entering the engine, are becoming increasingly important as the size of engines decreases.

The selection of suitable raw materials in turbocharger parts is influenced by higher operating temperatures and the use of more aggressive fuels and engine oils. State-of-the-art construction designs require very good processability, mainly in co-extrusion and bonding properties - excellent bonding to silicones is crucial for reliable performance of the turbocharger over the lifetime of the vehicle. 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoroelastomers have been specially designed for this challenge and offer outstanding bonding properties as well as impressive resistance towards fuels, engine oils and elevated temperatures.



Fuel Line / Fuel Hose

Fuel line hoses are typically made up of multilayered structures, which contain a fluoropolymer (fluoroelastomer or THV) as the inner layer and permeation barrier material for emission reduction.

The list of requirements for fuel hoses is long: Low permeation rate, high flexibility, extreme resistance against fuels and biofuels, good bonding properties for multilayer hose structures, long durability and good low temperature flexibility. As regulations around the world continue to become more stringent, fuel emission standards and permeation resistance become increasingly important.

3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoropolymers are widely used in fuel line hose applications because of their excellent permeation and chemical resistance. Even at higher temperatures, and longer exposure to alternative fuels (FAM B / RME) or to gasoline with an increasing ethanol or methanol share, they perform excellently.



Chemical Hose

Hoses made from 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoropolymers are widely used in the chemical and associated industries. Why? Because they are the best fit. Besides the typical chemical/corrosion resistance and broad temperature ranges common in these industrial environments, additional requirements could be non-stick properties or sanitary, FDA, pharmaceutical or similar approvals. Hydraulic System

If you are working with petroleum-, synthetic- or water-based hydraulic fluids in material handling equipment and mechanical engineering systems, there's a role to play for 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE. Used in the construction of inner layer hoses, it shows excellent temperature, chemical and permeation resistance at elevated pressure levels. And the non-stick capability of 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE supports effective use by avoiding sedimentation on the hose surface - resulting in long-lasting, very high flow rates.
