An O-ring is torus-shaped loop of elastomer, to be used as a mechanical gasket. Its cross-section is most commonly O-shaped and the ring is designed to be seated in a groove and situated between two or more machine-parts. The sealing property is achieved by compression. O-rings are also known as packings or toric joints.

O-rings made of 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoropolymers are best applied in thermally or chemically challenging environments, often under high pressure.
