Aluminium outside panels refurbished with DI-NOC™
Architectural Finishes for Exterior at dutch railway station
The typical railway station Sloterdijk is dominated by the famous “tubes”, the transparent
tunnels among which the upper railway tracks run. The lower part of these tubes is composed
of aluminum panels. After about twenty-five years’ of outside exposure, the panels were quite
rightly weathered and were no longer complying to the quality standards from NS anymore.
The DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes were presented to the Dutch Railways. They were
immediately convinced: the panels covered with DI-NOC appeared again as new. Moreover it
means much less time and much less money in comparison with the replacement of the old
aluminium plates with new ones. The cost proved not to be the only reason for choosing
DI-NOC Architectural Finishes. Another important argument in favor of DI-NOC finish was
the warranty and life expectancy.
"3M could quickly respond to our request. The film application must be carried out above a number of
tracks. That means that those tracks must be made “out of service" and this has major implications for the
timetable, so that those types of work are already planned well in advance. When the decision for DI-NOC
was taken, there was already a week out of service in the planned timetable for other maintenance work.
This was also the week in which the film application should happen, but 3M took that well. We were
under the impression that 3M could within such a short time frame bring such a large team of night-
workers together!"
