Postmix Filtration Solutions

3M Water Filtration is a leading supplier of filtration solutions to key fast food foodservice restaurants and suppliers of soft drinks to whom we provide recipe quality water for post-mix applications.

Post Mix

The cold beverage machine – which combines post-mix syrup with water and carbonates – is often the most profitable part of the business, whether in a convenience store or fast food restaurant.

And with post-mix approximately 83 percent water, it’s imperative this is of recipe quality to provide complete customer satisfaction.

We offer eight systems in our Cold Beverage and Postmix filtration range to service single carbonator dispensers.

  • Single high flow carbonator dispensers
  • Dual carbonator dispensers
  • Carbonators and cold beverage dispensers.

Benefits include :

  • Fast and easy cartridge exchange– just one quarter turn to release – thanks to SQC (Sanitary Quick Change) technology which minimises the possibility of leakage and contamination.
  • Proprietary IMPACT (Integrated Membrane Pre-Activated Carbon Technology) cartridges with a membrane pre-filter and a carbon block core filter also reduce microbial content in the water and protect customers from cyst and 99.9% of common pathogens.
  • Better tasting drinks.

Chlorine taste and odour removal

Chlorine can be found in mains water because the water authorities have added it to the water for disinfection purposes, to kill harmful bacteria in the water. It can also be left in the water at a low level to provide a residual disinfection level up to customer’s taps.

Chlorine is one of the most common complaints of taste and odour of tap water. Activated carbon provides a simple and effective means to reduce chlorine from water. Activated carbon also can be effective at removing other water taints such as taste and odours caused by trace levels of organics in the water, which can cause for example earthy, chemical taints.

All activated carbons are not the same and 3M offers a range of high performance carbon based systems for chlorine, taste and odour reduction. Either through the use of novel, unique carbon block technology or linked with our pharmaceutical membranes they provide market leading performance for the reduction of chlorine, taste and odour, sediment, cyst and bacteria,

This means better tasting water which can improve beverage and ice quality as well as providing machine protection in sensitive components.

3M offers chlorine taste and odour removal in all products for mains fed water coolers, postmix and ice machines, Coffee, Vending machines and steamers as well as for water filtration in the home.

3M also offers an advance range of filters designed for Chloramine reduction, a specialised form of chlorine which is replacing chlorine in some water treatment. Chloramine requires special carbon for its reduction.

Scale Inhibition

Scale build up in hard water areas causes equipment down time, reduces efficiency, and affects both water level and temperature controls. We estimate that 3mm of scale build up can cause 25% energy loss in addition to unwanted and costly service calls.

For hard water areas we have polyphos based scale inhibition filters that dose polyphosphate into the water to coat areas where scale may form. This provides high-quality water while inhibiting scale growth in the system and unnecessary downtime and service calls.

For further information on Scale Inhibition see our Scale Prevention Application section.

Bacterial Reduction

3M has added membranes to a number of product lines and can offer different levels of bacteria removal. This new technology offers high level protection and can be applied in all applications.
