3M ESPE Filtek™ Z350 Universal Restorative is a universal composite, utilizing 3M's unique nanofiller technology, that combines the strength of a hybrid with the beauty of a microfill. This material combines strength and esthetics in one easy to use product. Combined with your expertise, this restorative will enable you to provide high-quality restorations and a greater level of patient appreciation. Filtek Z350 Universal Restorative offers:
Wears like enamel A recent 5-year clinical study verified what dentists who have been using Filtek™ Z350 Universal Restorative already know: Clinical photos illustrating esthetically pleasing results using Filtek™ Z350 Universal Restorative in a variety of techniques. Filtek Z350 Universal Restorative 5-Year Study Clinical Photos

With time and wear, however, larger particles of conventional hybrids are plucked from the resin matrix resulting in a reduction of gloss. In contrast, the unique nanoclusters of Filtek™ Z350 Universal Restorative are designed to shear with the resin matrix during wear conditions, rather than be plucked out. Thanks to 3M ESPE’s "true" nanotechnology, a smoother finish and higher gloss is retained. Polish That Lasts

3M ESPE’S “true” nanotechnology
3M ESPE builds its nanocomposite using a patented process that creates unique groups, or clusters, of nanometer-sized particles. With Filtek™ Z350 Universal Restorative, the nanoclusters shear at a rate similar to the wear of the surrounding matrix during abrasion. This allows the restoration to maintain a smoother surface for long-term polish retention.
In contrast, hybrids and microhybrids lose larger particles to abrasive forces over time. The average particle size of fillers is typically between 0.4 and 0.6 microns. And as these materials are abraded, the loss of filler particles results in the formation of pits or voids, leaving a roughened, less-polished surface.
