Adper™ SE Plus

Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive

Introducing the two-bottle, high performance self-etch adhesive from 3M ESPE with confidence-inspiring features you won't find with other self-etch adhesives.

The future of self-etch is now self-evident.
More and more doctors are choosing self-etch adhesives for a simpler procedure and reduced risk of post-operative sensitivity. That's why the scientists at 3M ESPE looked at ways to take your confidence in self-etch to a whole new level. They've succeeded with Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive.

Colour-change indicator: be confident of adhesive coverage and activation.
Confidence starts with knowing you have accurate adhesive placement and coverage. There will be no doubt using Adper™ SE Plus adhesive. Its colour-change indicator gives you visual confirmation of coverage, as well as proper etch activation. The technique provides for a solvent-free, hydrophobic overcoat similar to the bonding philosophy of Adper™ Scotchbond™ Multi-Purpose Adhesive. This novel bonding approach, combining the unique colour change technology and hydrophobic overcoat, results in low technique sensitivity and more consistent performance.

Radiopacity: be confident in your future diagnosis.
In the case of adhesive pooling, it can be difficult to distinguish between cured adhesive film and secondary decay on a radiograph. But Adper™ SE Plus adhesive contains a surface-modified, bonded zirconia nanofiller that provides radiopacity to reduce the chance of misdiagnosis of secondary caries in the case of adhesive pooling. In addition, the bonded nanofiller enhances bond strength.

Note the appearance of dark lines in multiple locations along the composite-adhesive-tooth interfaces. The lines are caused by pooled radiolucent adhesive, and can be confused with tooth decay. The right side is Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive. Due to its radiopacity, there are no dark lines present to be misdiagnosed.

Summary of Advantages

  • Total-etch performance in a self-etch adhesive
  • Reduced risk of post-operative sensitivity
  • Colour-change indicator verifies coverage and activation
  • Radiopaque to reduce risk of misdiagnosis of decay
  • Patented bonded nanofiller for optimized bond strength
  • Moisture tolerant - works on wet or dry enamel and dentin
  • Good stability - without refrigeration or shaking
  • Root surface desensitiser

Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive

Be confident in achieving accuracy for a wide range of procedures with Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive.

Light-curing Adper™ SE Plus adhesive is for these indications:

  • Bonding between dentin/enamel and composite filling
  • Bonding between dentin/enamel and compomer filling
  • Intraoral repair of porcelain, composite and metal using light-cure composite resin
  • Desensitisation of hypersensitive teeth/root surface

Adper™ SE Plus adhesive is suited for light-curing materials, but not for dual-curing or self-curing materials, and is not indicated for indirect applications, including use in veneer placement.

Final restoration

Be confident of proven performance for a wide range of confidence inspiring features.
Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive has performed well in several clinical and university studies.

Proven bond strength.
First, it demonstrates bond strengths that are comparable with total etch adhesives. The patented, bonded nanofiller that gives Adper SE Plus adhesive its radiopacity, also helps optimize bond strength.

Reduced risk of post-operative sensitivity.
Unlike total-etch systems, with Adper SE Plus adhesive the etching and subsequent penetration of resin monomers into the demineralised dentin and enamel is carried out without a separate etch and rinse step. A major benefit of this procedure for dentin bonding is that the etching depth and the depth of penetration of the adhesive are identical. In addition, this keeps the collagen fibers from collapsing - and eliminates dependence on "moist" bonding which is characteristic of the 5th generation "one-bottle" systems.

Low nanoleakage
In a nanoleakage study comparing leading adhesives, Adper™ SE Plus adhesive was the only bonding agent tested that showed no signs of nanoleakage.

Low nanoleakage

It's accuracy you can see from the first step to the last.

Just follow these five easy steps to ensure full and accurate coverage when using Adper™ SE Plus Self-Etch Adhesive.

Step 1 Primer Step 2 Apply Adhesive Step 3 Colour Change
Step 1. Primer (Bottle A) goes on pink, acting as a guide for achieving full coverage when applying the adhesive. Step 2. Apply adhesive (Bottle B), and the pink colour disappears, indicating where the adhesive is placed. Step 3. The colour change also indicates the activation of the acid and commencement of the etching process. Agitate for 20 seconds. Air dry for 10 seconds.
Step 4 Light Cure Step 5 Final Restoration
Step 4. Apply hydrophobic overcoat and air thin. Light cure for 10 seconds. Step 5. Final restoration.
