As part of 3M’s on-going commitment to inspire the next generation of innovators, 3Mgives has partnered with DoSomething.org, the largest not-for-profit for young people and social change, to bring a STEM experience through texting (SMS) to increase interest and generate excitement in STEM especially among girls.
Science Sleuth: Help find the thief who took the school mascot. Text CLUE to 38383
Once you complete the experience, you will have the opportunity to choose a DonorsChoose.org classroom to designate a $10 grant from 3Mgives to a classroom in need.

3M South Africa Celebrates Global Volunteer Day
A group of 3M South Africa volunteers spent the day painting and upgrading Sithabile Child and Youth Care Centre in celebration of the late Nelson Mandela’s (Madiba) life and legacy. Sithabile is a home, rehabilitation, learning center and a place of refuge for some 50 neglected and abused children from the farms, informal settlements and streets of eastern Gauteng.
3M volunteers painted the exterior of the center and the kitchen. At lunchtime, the “braai team” ensured everyone enjoyed a hot meal in the middle of winter, with a side order of fun. One 3Mer patiently painted faces of numerous of the children and transformed them into Spiderman, Batman or a princess. 3M also arranged for Community Safety to do a Road Safety Awareness Program for the children for which the “parents” of the home were extremely grateful.

Speakers encouraged 3Mers to get involved, pledge and help create pathways out of poverty for people in our communities. After the formal presentations, employees got involved. In less than 15 minutes more than 300 employees put together 550 arts and craft bags for preschool children at five local organizations: Way to Grow, Canvas Health, Lifetrack, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center and the Wilder Foundation.
